The logs are mainly from our own managed woodland in the heart of Devon but we do also buy in best quality hardwood from other local woodlands. We have a 10 year managment plan registered with the forestry commission, wiith emphasis on habitat management for wildlife and woodland sustainability.
It is essential to burn dry logs to reduce tar in your chimney and get the maximum heat for your home . Our logs are processed many months in advance and all stacked for maximum exposure to heat, sunlight and air flow in our purpose built open sided polytunnel, and our old adapted glasshouse.
We often get asked about the moisture content of our logs so we measure them on a regular basis. Our seasoned logs are currently an average of around 20% and below moisture content. Although our price list has full and half loads, we can also do a 3/4 load which is equal to 3 dumpy bags, and mixed loads of hardwood and softwood in any ratio required.
We use a large pickup truck for delivery requiring 7ft6 wide access for tipping . If no room for tipping we do sometimes throw logs off the side if parking is safe to do so.
